The project comprised of the reconstruction of 2km of the Bruce Highway south of Townsville. Works included the full reconstruction of pavement, drainage including culvert replacement, signage and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.
The project works were completed in accordance with Townsville City Council aligned to main Roads standards.
Construction Period: August 2011 to March 2012
Final Construction Period: August 2011 to September 2012
EOT approved – no liquidated damages applied
- Management of 44,000 plus vehicles per day through narrow testing road conditions
- Road design changes in several sections based on controlling water through wet season
- Widen the entire road by 1.5m to allow motorists a safer buffer from opposing traffic in an area renown for accidents
